"The Young Artist Zumbabwe" Unframed Drypoint Print by Donald Earley
Artist Donald Earley has created this beautiful print, "The Young Artist Zumbabwe", using a drypoint technique.
This is an intense portrayal of a man, captured by beautiful line and shading, a hallmark of Donald Earley's fine prints.
The unframed drypoint print measures 5 1/2 inches x 7 3/4 inches.
Drypoint is a printing process in which lines are drawn on a metal plate with a stylus called a drypoint needle. The stylus raises a "burr" in the metal, creating velvety effects on the print. Drypoint looks like an etching but avoids the use of acid, making it a safer and easier way of producing a good quality print.
